Acquisition of FinTravel (Pvt) Ltd
Fintravel, initially a subsidiary of the UK based multi-national James Finlays & Co., is a pioneer in the air-line ticketing industry in Sri Lanka. Formed under its present guise in 1994, the company has a strong reputation in the local travel market with many corporate clients using them as their trusted travel partner
Osara Lanka viewed the acquisition as an opportunity to further consolidate its position in the local travel market and take advantage of their links to some of Sri Lanka’s large corporate entities.
Having acquired full management control of Fintravel, Osara Lanka has reorganized the company to match its own operating model and create vital synergies that allow both affiliates to growth further, and more rapidly
Rienzie T. Wijetilleke
Widely acknowledged as one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent bankers, Mr. Wijetilleke spent over 50 years in the financial industry, working in markets as diverse as London, Dubai (U.A.E) and Colombo. Having worked for Sri Lanka’s largest and main state bank, the Bank of Ceylon, Mr. Wijetilleke took up the position of Chief Executive Office at the Hatton National Bank (HNB) in the early 1998. Over the course of the next 17 years.
Mr. Wijetilleke transformed HND in to one of Sri Lanka’s largest private commercial banks, growing the bank from an asset base of Rs. 30 Bn to over 300 Bn. Mr. Wijetilleke also served as the chairman of HNB for a period of 7 years. Mr. Wijetilleke incorporated Osara Lanka Destinations (Pvt) Ltd in 2003 to take advantage of the growing tourism industry in Sri Lanka. From humble beginning, under Mr. Wijetilleke’s guidance, Osara Lanka has established itself as a trusted tour operator for outbound as well as inbound travel.
Mr. Wijetilleke has also held several prestigious positions on the Boards of many public listed companies including as Chairman of Sunshine Holdings PLC and as Vice Chairman of Nawaloka Hospitals PLC. He also served as the Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange and chairman of the interim Committee for the Sri Lanka Cricket.
Having completed a Joint Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance with Business Administration at the University of Kent in the U.K., Kusum commenced an eleven year career in banking in 2006 with the First Gulf Bank in Dubai, U.A.E. he then returned to Sri Lanka and joined DFCC Bank PLC as a Management Trainee in 2007. Kusum was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Relationship Manager at the Corporate Banking department, the main business unit at DFCC Bank. Having been promoted to the post of Senior Relationship Manager – Special Grade, Kusum resigned from DFCC Bank in June 2017 after completing 10 years at the organization to take up the position of General Manager at Osara Lanka Destinations. Kusum also completed a Master of Arts in International Relations at the University of Colombo

A Veteran tour organizer with a career spanning over 25 years in the travel industry. He has organized and led groups from private and public sector as well as students from prestigious schools to various international sports events, educational workshops, recreational and leisure tours. At times some of these teams have emerged winners and won cash awards, medals and certificates. Mohan’s service to the industry is well known for the fact that his tours are reliable, safe and organized with primary objectives of customer satisfaction in mind.

Another veteran in travel trade, Saliya joined the industry in 1994 and has steadily built up a reputation as an expert in all aspects of airline ticketing. He has handled numerous large clients, organizing their travel itineraries and ensuring the highest levels of service.
